Henning Schellerup

Henning Schellerup (born January 3, 1928 in Thisted near Viborg, Denmark – May 12, 2000 in South Jordan, Utah, USA) was a Danish-born cinematographer and director of American film. Little is known about the early years of Schellerups. Henning Schellerup grew up in Denmark. On March 17, 1952, he came to the USA and was naturalized there on December 20, 1957. He was already 40 years old when he started working for the movie. His first demonstrable work (as a camera assistant) was the strip The Ship of the Loving Women. These as well as almost all of his subsequent works were cheaply produced B-Pictures, sometimes also Exploitation- and Blaxploitation-trash with high sex and crime-factor or horror elements, and carried titles like porn-journey to the sex goddess, Up and Down -- I can already again, The Buggy-Bumser, Shirt up or I shoot, Black Starlet, Mama's Dirty Girls, Curse of the Headless Horseman, Kiss of the Tarantula and Planet of Monsters In 1977 he photographed a more reputable film with a new version of the adventure material Der letzten Mohikaner.In 1987 he finished his career as chief cameraman, and then worked until 1991 as a simple cameraman or second unit cameraman.In the 70s and early 80s and early 90s he also directed a series of sometimes obscure films, most recently in two semi-documentary television productions, which dealt with biblical search for traces.After that Henning Schellerup finished his film activity and settled in 1994 in the U.S. state of Utah, where he died six years later.He was married since November 1951 and had several children.
