Biography

Michael Gleason (born 1938 in Brooklyn, New York City, USA; died October 21, 2016 in Santa Monica, California, USA) was an American television producer and screenwriter. Gleason attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. After completing his education he moved to Los Angeles. Together with William Blinn he wrote a script for a series of the Western series Thousand Miles of Dust in 1962. He followed scripts for other TV series, including Am Fuß der blauen Berge, Mein Uncle vom Mars und Big Valley.From 1965, Gleason wrote more than 130 episodes for the series Peyton Place, which was based on the success of the 1957 film of the same name. Gleason also produced episodes for the crime series Ein Sheriff in New York (1970–1977).Two of these episodes were nominated for the Emmy and the Writers Guild of America Award. Together with Robert Butler, Gleason created the television series Remington Steele in 1980. It produced 5 seasons with 94 episodes, which were broadcast from 1982 to 1987.Gleason was married and had 8 children.
