Gertrud "Trude" Bechmann (born 3 January 1904 in Vienna; † 25 July 1982 in East Berlin) was an Austrian actress who gained fame in addition to her theater activities mainly through film and television productions by the DFF and DEFA. After completing her studies in German and history, she took acting lessons in Vienna before making her stage debut in Sankt Pölten in 1929. There followed theatre engagements at various German stages, as well as German-speaking stages in the former Czechoslovakia. With the seizure of power by the Nazis, Bechmann participated in the anti-fascist resistance in exile. After the end of World War II, Bechmann worked mainly on stages in Vienna before following theater engagements at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin and the Berliner Ensemble. In addition, she appeared in countless film and television productions in rather smaller roles, such as in the DEFA feature film "Johannes Kepler" by director Frank Vogel.
