
Biography
Volker Meyer-Dabisch (born 29 June 1962 in Kamen) is a German actor and director. After his Abitur in 1981 in Hamm, Meyer-Dabisch completed an acting training in Berlin in 1985–1988, followed by engagements in Zittau and Schwäbisch Hall. After that, Meyer-Dabisch worked at the Theater Zerbrochene Fenster, where he staged the hip-hop piece "36 Street", the biography of a gang member of the 36 juniors, Ayhan Sönmez, accompanied by Beatboxer Bee Low and the Turkish rapper Fuat. The Beatbox musical "Kohle Kohle mit Oktay Özdemir, Hülya Duyar, Aykut Kayacık, Heinrich Rolfing and the Beatboxers of the 4xsample crew, Mando, Chlorophile and Wetlipz", over a family that runs a coal shop in Kreuzberg, Germany, he also staged in 2003. Love, Peace and Beatbox, premiered at the Berlinale 2008, received the award "Best Music Film" at the Unerhört Festival in Hamburg, and the Audience Award at the Filmfest Lünen. In 2010 followed the documentary "Der Adel vom Görli" and 2011 "Open Souls". In his film Der Adel vom Görli Meyer-Dabisch portrays the former railway area Görlitzer Park, a recreation area for residents and visitors. The film ran in Berlin-Kreuzberg in the cinema Moviemento. In Open Souls, the director addresses dealings with so-called mixed children.In addition to his activity as film director, Volker Meyer-Dabisch works as an actor in cinema and television productions and as Caveman since 2003, and as Superdaddy since 2010.Since 2012, Meyer-Dabisch also works as a radio moderator at multicult.fm.
