
Biography
Igor Luther (born August 5, 1942 in Banská Bystrica, Croatia – June 7, 2020) was a Slovak cinematographer who worked mainly in Germany. Igor Luther was educated at the Film Academy in Prague and was responsible for the production of the film. In 1968 he joined the Federal Republic of Germany. He quickly became one of the leading visual designers of the new German film. He worked for directors such as Michael Verhoeven, Ulrich Schamoni, Volker Schlöndorff, Douglas Wolfsperger and Andrzej Wajda. Luther won the German Film Award in the category Best Camera in 1972 for One and 1977 for The Conquest of the Citadel and The Fangshot. He was involved in more than 100 productions for film and television.
