The tomb is a 2004 film directed by David Hunt, the pseudonym of Bruno Mattei. The film was written by Mattei with the collaboration of Barbara Di Girolamo and Giovanni Paolucci and produced by him, who will produce all the last works of Mattei. The film was performed by Anna Marcello and Robert Madison. After directing some erotics and two films on the cannibals, Mattei continues his direct-to-video line with a horror on the civilization of the Maya, with the presence of mummies and zombies. The screenplay deals with the story of a group of archaeologists who discover an ancient Maya temple. After their guide dies in mysterious circumstances, they address a healer of the place to lead them in the temple. In that place strange events begin to happen and some boys disappear in nothing. While the boys continue to conduct the research, they inadvertently awaken the sleep of a priest, who will try to finish a sacrifice begun two thousand years ago.The film had a very complex production, also because Mattei had a higher budget than other previous films. The shootings also took place in the Philippines to cushion the cost of production. The grave is considered one of the best films made by Matthew in 2000, although it was welcomed by lovers of genre films in a contrasting way.
