Alice Nellis was born on January 3, 1971 in eské Budjovice. Before studying English literature and American literature, Nellis was a flautist. She studied scriptwriting and dramaturgy at FAMU. She was a web designer for the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as a teacher, actress, translator and film maker. Her first feature film, Eeny meeny (2000), won a screenplay award. Her 2002 film Some Secrets won two awards.
