An original idea of Fernando Gaitán, vice president of production and contents of RCN Television, who followed closely the realization and construction of each of the moments and characters of the series, which was written by Juan Carlos Pérez (‘La Pola), after an investigation that spread for two years, carrying out more than 100 interviews with friends and relatives closest to Jaime Garzón, who narrated with details the most important moments of the life of the Bogotano, from his childhood, to the day of his death. The management is in charge of Sergio Cabrera (‘La Pola is the one who is in charge of the creation of the artist Santiago Alarcón (‘El Man es Germán), ‘Anónima), ‘Until the money separates us from him and ‘Las Vegas'), who prepared his interpretation for months, in order to achieve a character very close to what was in life Jaime Garzón. "Jaime is a historical character, who with his way of being approached the Colombians to a reality that lived in the country at the time. His work earned the respect and admiration of some and the criticisms of others. The work that will be seen in the air is the result of many hours of study, where he listened to the recordings, imitations and many things of his life. To the cast of ‘Garzon', actors of great trajectory on Colombian television joined: Cecilia Navia, Carmenza González, Humberto Dorado, Ernesto Benjumea, Katherine Vélez, Luis Fernando Múnera, Patricia Grisales, Jacques Toukmanian, Zharick León, Juan Carlos Vargas, Carlos Hurtado, Diana Belmonte, among others. This series, of 80 chapters of one hour each, was recorded largely in outdoor settings and places frequented by Garzón, such as the National University, the restaurant ‘El Patio', among others. In addition, the production team was able to recreate moments of Garzón's abduction and when it acted as an intermediary for the release of a group of kidnappers. It was a work of transformation of locations on the outskirts of Bogotá, in which we reconstructed that stage of the kidnapping and everything that developed in areas of difficult access. The camps and everything that surrounded them was set up and rebuilt, giving a very real touch to the spaces where the scenes were recorded, explains Madeleine Contreras, general producer.
