Plot.
A young man, who was employed in a hardware store in Naples in the early 1900s, passionate about music, composes in moments of graceful freedom songs without finding anyone willing to help him to sink into the world of entertainment. An elderly lady is willing to do something for him: he introduces him into the family of a wealthy businessman, attracted by his compositions, who funds him, assuring him in short notice and wealth. The young woman loves, loved, the daughter of his benefactors but, for reasons of social difference, cannot marry her; all the more so that he is a trouper. In the crisis that follows his disappointment, the old lady confesses to being his mother's sister and helps to appease her soul with words of resignation. The young man will marry Ninetta, a good girl of the people, who has always loved him in silence.
