Plot.

The successful hit composer Robert Ellin returns early from his tour to New York. His wife Gloria has given a big party in his absence, the apartment is populated by sleeping guests and Gloria himself returns drunk with hockey player Teddy Taylor a little later. Unnoticed Robert listens to Gloria Teddy confessing her love and promises that both have to interrupt her affair only briefly for the time of Robert's stay. Now Robert admits himself and immediately separates from Gloria. He submits the divorce, but it becomes legally valid only in six weeks. Until then, the divorce attorney advises, Robert should not let himself go into debt and not start an affair to feed Gloria's lawyers. Robert decides to take a vacation in Europe for six weeks.

Music by Night (German: Musik bei Nacht) is a 1953 German comedy film directed by Kurt Hoffmann and starring Paul Hubschmid, Gertrud Kückelmann and Curd Jürgens. It was shot at the Bavaria Studios in Munich. The film's sets were designed by the art director Robert Herlth.
