Plot.

The capital of Yemen, the city of Sana'a, holds an important part of history within its walls filled with medieval architecture and culture. But that same culture was about to disappear with the country's modernization which came after the civil war in the 1960's. To impeach such modern invasion, director Pasolini pledges to UNESCO for the recognition of Sana'a as a World Heritage Site.

The walls of Sana'a is a documentary film in the form of an appeal to UNESCO, filmed by Pier Paolo Pasolini and produced by Franco Rossellini.The film began on Sunday, October 18, 1970, the last day that Pasolini was in Sana'a for the film The Decameron. The short documentary was also shot in the Hadramawt region in South Yemen. Pasolini's commitment to the safeguarding of cities was remarkable and in 1974 he turned (with Paolo Brunatto) Pasolini and.. the shape of the city, another short documentary about the cities of Orte and Sabaudia. As he himself said: "It is one of my dreams to save Sana'a and other cities, their historical centers: for this dream I will beat myself, I will try to intervene Unesco.The appeal of Pasolini was received: in 1986, for his precious artistic testimonies, the old city of Sana'a was declared a heritage of humanity.
