Bruno was told to stop drinking. He doesn't have a lot of skills and doesn't have a lot of expectations: with an accordion, he makes a living as a street musician. When he leaves Germany to live in Wisconsin, he befriends Eva, a prostitutes down on her luck, and they join his neighbor, who is an elderly eccentric.
