Plot.

Brimstone and Treacle is a single-series screenplay, commissioned in 1974 by the BBC to the English author Dennis Potter for the Play for Today container. The gross content of the work made it possible that, in 1976, the broadcast was suspended just before the scheduled airplay. It was only in 1987, on the wave of success achieved by The Singing Detective (always Potter), that the screenplay was broadcast by the BBC.
