Terra Fria is a 1992 Portuguese film by the director António Campos. It is based on the novel of Ferreira de Castro. The film was presented on June 22, 1992 at the Teatro José Lúcio da Silva, in Leiria. It competed from September 9 at the 16th Festival des Films du Monde (Montreal, Canada). It had a premiere at the Portuguese Cinemateca 30 September 1992. The public premiere took place on December 2, 1995 in Lisbon.The film was shot from December 1990 and during 1991 in the region of Trás-os-Montes more specifically in the village of Montalegre and in its places in Padronelos, Padroso, Ponte da Misarela, Larouco and Salto.The name seems to refer to the Terra Fria Transmontana, although Montalegre is not part of the region that was agreed upon.
