In 1981, Hong Kong ATV's Early Republican drama, a total of 20 episodes, was produced by Xu Xiaoming and Li Zhaohua. The Shandong Opera Troupe (Ma Yantao) came to Shanghai to make a living, but was oppressed by the Shanghai gang Shao Ba (Sima Hualong), causing the big brother Ma Yongzhen (Bai Biao) and his junior Shi Xiufeng (Li Hanchi) and Ma Tianzhu (Wu Weiguo) to separate. Ma Tianzhu joins another gang, Tan Si (Zheng Lei), and falls in love with his sister Tan Ying (Li Yanyan). Shao Ba threatens Ma Yongzhen to kill Tan Si, and Ma Tianzhu tries to resolve the misunderstanding between Ma Yongzhen and Tan Si. However, Tan Si finally died of the conspiracy of his opponent Shao Ba. After removing Shao Ba, Ma Yongzhen was supported by Tan Si's subordinates as a gang leader, and faced with the framing of the corrupt police agency. Shi Xiufeng appeared as a high-level government commissioner to relieve him. But Xiufeng was trapped in officialdom and annexed the gang industry for money, killing Tan Ying by mistake, making Ma Yongzhen and Ma Tianzhu desperate, and finally killing them both. Junior sister Alan (Ma Min'er) killed Shi Xiufeng to avenge the two and returned to Shandong to reorganize the theater.
