Karen Schröter (born 1963 in East Berlin) is a former German film actress.In search of young actors, director Herrmann Zschoche discovered the then 14-year-old student at an East Berlin secondary school in early summer 1977. He gave her the female leading role in his film Sieben Sommersprossen, which was filmed in late summer and autumn 1977 and published in 1978. Two years later, Zschoche used her in his film And next year at the Balaton.Under the direction of Hans Kraftt, Karen Schröter played in 1980 in the film Mein Vater Alfons (after Günter Ebert's children's book of the same name). In 1984, Schröter retired from the acting business and studied psychology. In 2003, she was interviewed in front of the camera in the television documentary Busen, Broiler, Banana – Jugend in der DDR about her film experiences in her youth.
