Madrid, 1930. Matilde (Helena Ezquerro) is a humble young woman who lives with her mother, Rosario (Maryam Gallego), and her three brothers. She arrives looking for work at the La Moderna tea room, one of the most elegant cafés in Madrid. Before entering she meets Iñigo (Almagro San Miguel), her love of adolescence, a young man whom she has not seen for eight years, when the tragic death of Matilde's father interrupted her newly born love story. Iñigo is now a well-placed young man, right hand of Don Jaime (José Luís García Pérez), one of the most important entrepreneurs in the city. Between the two young people the passion comes back, but Carla (Stéphanie Magnin), wife of Don Jaime and former girlfriend of Iñigo, who has not yet given up, is not willing to allow it.
