Wiki.
The melancholy of the Haruhi Suzumiya (Japanese: "Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu") is an anime television series that was first shown in Japan in 2006 and is based on the Light-Novel series Suzumiya Haruhi. In the series under director Tatsuya Ishihara volumes 1–3 and 5–6 were adapted. The screenplay of the original ninth episode Someday in the Rain was written by Nagaru Tanigawa, the author of the series, exclusively for the anime. The animations of the series and of the film are from the anime studio Kyōto Animation. The anime is about Haruhi Suzumiya, a schoolgirl with the godlike ability to freely shape the world and reality according to her wishes. It represents a danger to the universe, because she is not aware of this ability and quickly falls into boredom and frustration. Therefore, her close school friends, who were put off by different organizations with the exception of the narrator Kyon, are supposed to observe and keep them under control.Shortly after the broadcast of the series from 3 April 2006 to 3 July 2006 in Japan, Kadokawa Shoten (the editor of the book series) received numerous offers to license the plot as anime, manga and light novel Based on the already successful book series, the anime was the trigger for a big fan movement whose fans call themselves Haruhiists. As a result of an Internet phenomenon, the franchise around the series developed into one of the most famous anime productions ever. In Germany, the anime was licensed by Anime Virtual. Since June 9, 2008, the synchronized version of the series appeared on four DVDs, which were released at a distance of about two months. From spring 2012, the 2nd season, as well as the feature film in Germany, will also be released by the anime label Kazé.
