Plot.
This epic story takes place between 1820 and 1860 during the Habsburg Monarchy, and portrays the life one of the greatest Hungarian aristocrats - Count Széchenyi - who was born with extra-ordinary mental and spiritual talents. In the years following the fall of Napoleon the young count Széchenyi irresponsibly seduces his brother's wife, and the consequent scandal ruins his career as an army officer. After the sudden death of his humiliated lover Count Széchenyi drastically changes his character from that of a shallow young man into a responsible nobleman seeking to conquer his fate by creating great achievements in his remaining life.

The German-Hungarian co-production A Hdember, English The Bridgeman is a historical film from 2003 and is in the shadow of the bridge. The film was directed by Géza Bereményi. The screenplay was written by Can Togay Jnos, who was employed as a cultural attache at the Hungarian Embassy in Berlin and as a lecturer at the Babelsberg Film School. Sandor Soeth was the executive producer of the film. The budget of Hungarian film funding was less than the production costs. At the American Film Festival Houston World Fest in 2003 the film was submitted as a Hungarian contribution and won a Golden Remi Award for best historical and biographic film. The film was shown at a film festival in Chennai, India.
