Plot.

It is Prussia's King Frederick II who, during an inspection of the Königsberg University, recognizes the unusual talent of the young Trenck. He asks him to enter the army and promises him a great military career. Friedrich Freiherr von der Trenck obeys the equally intelligent and contentious student. At the Guard Corps in Potsdam he gets to know the toughest drills, but he also sees the brilliant possibilities offered to him at the court.
