Plot.
In this ambitious and unsettling Florida-set horror film, a young couple travels to the Everglades to help relieve their anxiety and to bring them closer together. The Welder is a 2023 American horror film directed by David Liz, who co-wrote the film with Manuel Delgadillo. The plot follows an interracial couple who, while on vacation at a ranch near the Everglades, encounter a former surgeon intent on conducting grisly racial experiments.
The Welder premiered on digital platforms on February 24, 2023.The Welder takes the very prevalent issue of racism and explores the true horror that is racial division and even offers a solution, albeit a heinous one. The film also explores the issue of PTSD and mental illness; and shows what can happen when someone is taken to the brink of their sanity.
