Plot.
In the ruins of Nim Bis Rub, in Babylon, is a band of smugglers den. There goes Nemsi Kara Ben and his faithful friend. One night, while camping, they surprise three smugglers and, after a hard-fought struggle, manage to reduce them and take possession of the rings that are their trademark. Then they go to Baghdad and there, a character who wears a ring of smugglers, which has seen Kara's, confuses him with one of the band.

The Lion of Babylon is a feature film by Johannes Kai based on motifs by Karl May (Karl-May-Film). The screenplay is based on Karl May's novel Bei den Rummern von Babylon und Motive aus Im Reiche des silbern Löwen. After the great success of The Slave Caravan, the film adaptation of the second string by Kara Ben Nemsi and Hadschi Halef Omar in the dangerous Orient followed. However, the actor of Kara Ben Nemsi was replaced from the previous film by Helmuth Schneider. Georg Thomalla, on the other hand, represents Hadschi Halef Omar again. Other important roles include Theo Lingen, Fernando Sancho and Mara Cruz.Director of the Spanish version En las ruinas de Babilonia was Ramón Torrado.
