Biography
Andreas Donhauser (born 8 May 1960 in Kirchberg am Wechsel) is an Austrian artist, stage designer, set designer, costume designer and designer. Andreas Donhauser attended the HTL Mödling, where he completed an apprenticeship as a precision technician. After completing his master's degree, he initially worked in the private sector for three years. He then studied architecture at the Vienna University of Technology and product design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Donhauser works as a designer and artist, creates jewellery and sculptures and has contributed to performances. In 2003 he founded the music group T9 with Mario Stegmüller, who soon joined the sculptor Max Bühlmann, the artist Christian Droste and Stefan Christandl. Since then, the group has played exclusively improvised "postbluetranshipfunkpunkjazzrock" music. Since 1990 he has formed a working group with Renate Martin under the name Donmartin Supersets. Donhauser and Martin work together as scene designers for Austrian cinema and television productions, among them repeatedly for films by directors Wolfgang Murnberger and Ulrich Seidl and Michael Glawogger In parallel, they work as stage and costume designers, among others at the Zurich Opera House, the Vienna State Opera, the Bregenz Festival, the Theater an der Wien, the Mariinski Theatre, St. Petersburg, Aaltooper Essen, Oper Graz, Stadttheater Klagenfurt and at the Salzburg Festival, especially in the productions and films of director Michael Sturminger.Donhauser is a member of the Academy of Austrian Film.
