Biography
Margrit Ensinger (born 12 November 1926 in Haltingen) is a German actress and radio actor. Margrit Ensinger took acting lessons with Gisela von Collande in Hamburg from 1946 to 1948. She had her first engagement at the Deutsches Theater Konstanz from 1948 to 1950 under the direction of Heinz Hilpert. Together with Hilpert, Ensinger moved to the Deutsches Theater Göttingen in 1950, where she played until 1953. From 1953 to 1958, she continued to perform at the Munich Kammerspiele, before moving to the Schauspielhaus Zürich in 1962 after her guest engagements at the Schillertheater in Berlin and the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, where she was a member of the ensemble until 1994 and where she continued to perform in later years. Ensinger played numerous well-known characters of the stage literature in her career. Among other things, she appeared in the world premieres of the Dürrenmatt pieces Ein Engel (An Angel) to Babylon and Die Steufer as well as various Swiss premieres. Since the early 1950s, Ensinger was also present on the screen and the screen. In 1953, alongside Valérie von Martens and Curt Goetz, she appeared in the film adaptation of his stage plays Hokuspoku in front of the camera. In 1963, she impersonated Maria Rosegger, the mother of the writer Peter Rosegger, in a film trilogy created after his stories. Especially between 1953 and 1964, Ensinger worked for the radio, part in well-known productions such as Der letzte Tag von Lisbon by Günter Eich or Ingeborg Bachmann's last Hörgrim von Manhattan. Her daughter Babett also works as an actress.
