The film stars Anil Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty and Amrish Puri in lead roles, and is based on the 1987 film Over the Top. The film was released on 6 December 2002, and was declared as an average grosser. The film was remade in Bangladesh as Sontrashi Munna (2005) with Manna and Moushumi.
