Plot.
According to demon lore, it takes hundreds of years to attain human form. Even then, lacking a human heart, a demon cannot experience the true pains and passions of existence. Painted Skin: The Resurrection is a 2012 Chinese fantasy action film directed by Wuershan, starring Zhou Xun, Chen Kun, Zhao Wei, Feng Shaofeng and Yang Mi. The film reunites most of the original cast of the 2008 film Painted Skin., acting as a sequel to the original film in a new storyline and characters with some degrees of connection.
A television adaptation of the second film, Painted Skin: The Resurrection, similar to the first, was broadcast in 2013.
