James Mitchell was an American actor and dancer. Although he is best known to television audiences as Palmer Cortlandt on the soap opera All My Children, theatre and dance historians remember him as one of the leading dancers of the era. Mitchell's ability to combine dance and acting was seen as a novelty by the critic, who said he was an example of the new dancer-actor-singer in American ballet.
