The Story of Perrine (1978)
Plot.
Perrine is a young girl who lives in Bosnia with her Indian mother and beloved father – that is, until her father passes away, leaving her mother with a single wish: travel to France to be with his father. The over 1,000 kilometer journey seems unfathomable, but Perrine and her mother have a plan: they will photograph people in the towns along the way to support themselves. With their hardy donkey Palikare and faithful dog Baron, the two set forth for Paris; along the way they encounter kind souls, barren villages, and a number of hardships; will Perrine and her mother survive the long journey to France?

The Story of Perrine (ペリーヌ物語, Perīnu Monogatari, lit. "Story of Perrine") is a Japanese anime series by Nippon Animation.
It is the fourth production in the World Masterpiece Theater series (Calpis Family Theater back then). It is based on the French novel En Famille by Hector Malot. The series originally aired on Sundays from January 1, 1978 until December 31, 1978, spanning 53 episodes.It has been dubbed in several languages for some regions, such as Iran, Portugal, Italy, Spain, Latin America, the Arabic Speaking World, Germany, Romania, Thailand, and the Philippines.
A re-edited footage film with some newly re-recorded lines and a new narration was also released in Japan in 1990.
